Rutherford boasts a city park and a public swimming pool (contact city hall for hours of operation). The town is also very proud of the multiple small businesses that call Rutherford home. Pate's Department store has been an integral piece of the main street since 1944 selling men's and women's clothing and shoes, boots, jewelry, and much more.
Davy Crockett
Rutherford was the home of Davy Crockett prior to his departure to Texas and his tragic death at the Alamo on March 6, 1836. Here you can visit the replica of his cabin (built with logs from the original cabin) and the grave of his mother, Rebecca Hawkins Crockett. Rutherford celebrates their famous frontiersman with a festival in early October each year with old-fashioned music, arts and crafts, costumes, and a parade.
