The farming community of Yorkville is located in the far eastern part of the county near the Dyer County line. The town, long known for its community involvement, has a tree-shaded park featuring a large community center and several playing fields. The community center may be rented for private functions by contacting city hall.

The town boasts one major industry, it is the home of the local telephone exchange and it was the home of the late Congressman Ed Jones. The much beloved congressman was known nationally for his local involvement in such things as the Lower Mississippi Delta Commission. Buildings, bridges and roads throughout the west Tennessee area have been named in his honor and memory.

The town has a BLUE-RIBBON rated elementary / middle school that is part of the Gibson County School System. (For more information on this school, see the EDUCATION section.)

Yorkville is also gaining popularity for its Washer Pitchin' Contest the third week of August each year. For more information on this event, see the ACTIVITIES & EVENTS section.
